Most shilajit buying advice concentrates on spotting adulteration — jaggery, chocolate, clay. That is worth doing, but it is not the risk that matters most. Raw shilajit is scraped from rock, and it carries whatever that rock and its environment held.
| BHULQ Resin | Untested Shilajit | |
|---|---|---|
| Heavy metals tested | NABL-accredited lab, published per batch | Usually not published |
| Fulvic acid method stated | Yes — figures are comparable | Often a bare percentage |
| Batch traceability | Batch number matches the jar | Rarely offered |
| Purification (shodhana) | Filtered and purified extract | 'Raw' products skip it entirely |
| What you can verify yourself | Solubility, consistency, plus the certificate | Solubility and consistency only |
| Price | Higher — testing and purification cost money | Often noticeably cheaper |
On price, and only on price. If a seller publishes accredited third-party heavy-metal results with batch numbers, they are not 'untested' and this comparison does not apply to them — buy on whatever else matters to you.
Where the material is going to be taken daily for months, the heavy-metal panel is the only document that speaks to whether that is safe. It is also the one thing no home test can substitute for.
Products marketed as 'raw', 'unprocessed' or 'straight from the mountain' are advertising the absence of the step that makes shilajit consumable. Ask for the certificate before you buy, not after.

Whatever format you choose, the certificate of analysis is the document that matters. Ours are published per batch.
